AN OVERVIEW OF THE LISTENING EAR COUNSELING AND MEDIATION SERVICES

The Listening Ear Counseling and Mediation Services was established upon the Word of God and is faith-based with an ear to hear and a heart to listen. It involves attentiveness to the concerns of others and following biblical guidelines to help bring resolutions through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Individuals are encouraged to express their innermost thoughts whether spiritual or non-spiritual. We do not guarantee that you will receive an immediate answer to all your inquiries during a session, but we guarantee that we will consult God through prayer and will get back to you with what He Says.

The Listening Ear practices confidentiality and no session will be shared with anyone without permission. By law, we must provide confidential information when an individual reveals a life-threatening situation, idea, or act to himself/herself or someone else.

The Listening Ear (CMS) Counseling and Mediation Services, centers around Creation Therapy which is based on the theory of temperament (understanding of the inner man). This knowledge is used to help us understand ourselves and allows us to be the best that God has created us to be by meeting the needs of our temperament naturally and spiritually.

Creation Therapy is not “the perfect solution for all of man’s problems” and we do not want to suggest that it is. Nothing can exceed the wisdom which we, the service providers of The Listening Ear, receive from being open to hearing “the still small voice” of the Lord.

As a Counselor or Mediator we must always endeavor to maintain spiritual freedom in the area of services we provide; meaning, we cannot hold on to a rigid therapeutic method and be closed to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Introducing salvation to those we counsel must take precedence over this, and any other therapeutic procedure used by the service

AN OVERVIEW OF THE LISTENING EAR COUNSELING AND MEDIATION SERVICES (CONT’D)

Creation Therapy is a tool requiring:

1. Understanding of one’s unique self.

2. Surrendering to Christ and His plan for your life.

3. A willingness to surrender the ungodly ways of meeting your temperament needs and replacing them with godly methods daily.

The theory of temperament teaches that our temperament is placed within us by God while in our mother’s womb and remains with us throughout our lives. We are spiritual

Beings created by God with a precise order and balance of body, soul, and spirit. The spirit encompasses our temperament, and our heart is the binding, blending, and balancing agent within our temperament.

The theory continues to teach us that every individual has temperament needs of various degrees. These temperament needs are met by drawing from the lower soul (humanistic) or from the higher soul, commonly referred to as the spirit. Most interpersonal and intrapersonal conflicts are caused by:

1. Individuals attempting to meet their temperamental needs in an ungodly way (drawing from the lower soul).

2. Temperament needs being out of balance i.e., all the individual’s energies spent meeting some needs while others are ignored.

In Creation Therapy the Counselor identifies the temperament needs of the clients and helps them to find a balance to relieve inner stress. This will help the clients find peace within themselves, within their environment, and with the Lord.
