THE LISTENING EAR COUNSELING PHASE STEPS
(Each Individual session lasts no more than 50 mins.)
The length of time spent in each phase may vary based on individual needs, therapeutic goals, and client readiness. A single phase may require more than one session to complete, and unfinished work may continue into subsequent sessions.
FIRST PHASE
1. Fill out the Listening Ear Disclaimer and Release of Liability Agreement.
2. Fill out Enrollment Information.
3. Arno Profile System (TAKE 7-10 MINS. MAX TO COMPLETE, ANSWER WHAT COMES TO MIND FIRST.)
4. Weekly Feeling Reflection Sheet (Go over this with the client to see what is bothering the Client.)
5. Take home "GETTING TO KNOW YOURSELF, THE REAL YOU,” and bring it back to the next session filled out.
6. Take home MY VISION PLAN FOR MYSELF DURING MY ___ DAY COUNSELING SESSIONS.
7. If the client has an addiction problem, give the client a copy of the INDIVIDUAL COORDINATED TREATMENT PLAN (ICTP).
SECOND PHASE
1. Weekly Feeling Reflection Sheet (review with the client to see if the client is bothered about anything).
2. Go over "GETTING TO KNOW YOURSELF, THE REAL YOU.”
3. Give “WHO I AM IN CHRIST” (if the client has a negative attitude about self).
4. Temperament Profile Overview (explain one area per session if time allows)
5. Review the VISION PLAN.
6. Have the client start a journal of their progress & write POSITIVE THOUGHTS vs NEGATIVE THOUGHTS
7. ADDRESS THE CLIENT'S THINKING PATTERN AND THE CAUSE OF IT.
8. USE THE REST OF THE TIME FOR COUNSELING. 1/3

THIRD PHASE
1. Weekly Feeling Reflection Sheet (Go over this with the client).
2. Explain 1st area of Temperament - INCLUSION
3. Review the Journal with the client - address Positive Thoughts vs Negative Thoughts & thinking pattern.
4. USE THE REST OF THE TIME FOR COUNSELING.
5. BEFORE CLIENT leaves, give information that will help in the problem area(s)
or direct the client to agencies with resources.
FOURTH PHASE
1. Weekly Feeling Reflection Sheet (go over this with the client).
2. Explain 2nd area of Temperament – CONTROL.
3. Review the Journal with the client to address Positive Thoughts vs Negative Thoughts & thinking pattern).
4. Review the progress of the client
5. USE THE REST OF THE TIME FOR COUNSELING.
FIFTH PHASE
1. Weekly Feeling Reflection Sheet (go over this with the client).
2. Explain 3rd area of Temperament – Affection.
3. Review the Journal with the client to address Positive Thoughts vs Negative Thoughts & thinking pattern).
4. Review the progress of the client.
5. USE THE REST OF THE TIME FOR COUNSELING.
SIXTH PHASE
1. Weekly Feeling Reflection Sheet (go over this with the client).
2. Review the client's journal of positive thoughts that replaced negative thoughts.
3. Review VISION PLAN DURING COUNSELING.
4. Allow the client to express him/herself about the sessions and what improvements
or lack of Improvement he/she sees in him/herself.
5. USE THE REST OF THE TIME FOR COUNSELING.
SEVENTH PHASE
1. Weekly Feeling Reflection Sheet (go over this with the client).
2. Review VISION PLAN DURING COUNSELING.
3. Discuss the Temperament Profile.
4. USE THE REST OF THE TIME FOR COUNSELING.
5. Determine if more sessions are needed and what
